Good day New and Returning Students of  the great University of Jos, I greet you all in the name of the struggle. Welcome to a new academic session, I wish you all hitch free academic and non-academic activities.

I am Sen. Ibrahim Mohammad-Amin .M (Aluta Shade) of SOSSA Parliament representing the prestigious department of Political Science, Secretary, Committee on constitution, a 300 level student and CEO bboyshade.com.ng.

Both new and returning students have been familiar with the campaign banners, online messages and even one on one approach by various aspiring students interested in the various offices in the forthcoming SUG elections. Well as students of this university I and some stake holders feel we need to know our candidates better, and this cannot be achieved by just meeting them during campaigns.

We’ve had previous encounters whereby we (students) voted in candidates based on popularity and not based on capability. This however left us in a dire situation because they couldn’t perform their duties efficiently. As a Political science student, I have thought it wise that we take adequate measures and steps in scrutinizing our aspirants before the SUG elections to avoid failure and incompetence in the new administration. We should also try to avoid Identity Politics.

As students of The University of Jos, we are ONE irrespective of our Religion, Ethnic group or Social class. We all are bound by the same thing which is to acquire knowledge and help build our nation. Let’s keep Religion and Ethnicity aside and choose the right candidates to lead and pioneer the affairs of students in this great University.

In order to help the students know more about the SUG Aspirants, we have arranged for a program titled “Know your SUG Aspirants”. It will be available on bboyshade.com.ng and will try to cover all you need to know about the SUG aspirants. They would be interviewed, Basic facts about them would be made available and how they intend to build the union would be captured also.
